breaking bad is just too good

Now I know that not many people that read blogs would be considerably interested in this little fact, but it is one of the best shows on television and I love it.

The new season of Breaking Bad starts tomorrow night!!!

I already called dibs on the sole TV between us four girls on Sundays from 9 to 10 pm.

The short version: A high school chemistry teacher finds out that he has terminal lung cancer and decides to start making crystal meth to leave his family some money after he is gone.

The long version: Really? Sorry. If you want the long version, rent the first two seasons! You won't regret it. You know the show Weeds? It's like that, but on steroids. Waaaay intense. I mean, we're talking about crystal meth here, not pot!

So this season, we may be seeing the Mexican drug cartels getting in on the action that's being dished out by the main characters Walter White, street name "Heisenberg" (who I just learned about in chemistry, theorized something called the uncertainty principle of electrons, which states that only position or momentum can be known about an electron, never both, and the more certain one is about one value, the less certain the other becomes... yada yada yada... I know. I'm sorry.) and Jesse Pinkman, his partner.

I am so excited for this!!! The last thing I saw in season 2 was Jesse was in rehab, Skylar just left with Walter Jr. and the baby, and two planes just collided over the neighborhood where the White family lives.

It seems like it's been forever since it's been on. I watched it religiously my junior year of high school when it premiered, not so much senior year, but I'm all caught up now and I'm super stoked for this season! I hope my roommates get hooked... :)

Are there any shows that you are so completely enamored with like me?
Drop me a comment because I would love to hear!

A Comfy Chair

I've decided I need a big, comfy, fully stuffed, proper arm chair for reading and throwing stuff on (like clothes that have been tried on) and chilling out.

I think I want to go with black because my color scheme is blue, white, and black with touches of silver. Most of my furniture is white, so I think black will contrast nicely. I'll throw on some white pillows or a white blank for balance.

Unfortunately, they are a tad expensive when buying new. This one from IKEA is $350. A bit pricey.

This one, also from IKEA, although it doesn't come in black, is $200. I could just get a slipcover for it.

And although this isn't the style of chair I want for my room, I just had to add this into this post about chairs. I absolutely love wing back chairs! They are just so classy and versatile! With the right fabric, they can be super sophisticated and chic.

I can't wait to get my own house to decorate...

I'm thinking about checking out some thrift stores, but those are a bit sketchy, I think, when it comes to furniture. Estate sales are good places, I've also heard.
Is there anywhere else that's good to get cheap armchairs?

WHOOP!

**I will preface this post with an apology. It has been a while since I've posted and I've been super busy, so please forgive me for this post if it turns out to be uber long. I've got a lot to tell you.

******************************

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Sara-Jane for bestowing upon me the
"Brighten My Day"
award! Whoop! I'm honored.

The rules...
Name 10 things that make me happy
Pass it on to 10 blogs that brighten my day

I will try my best!

1. Hot chocolate and a warm bath with relaxing music.

2. Concept art for Disney-Pixar movies. I would kill for one of these books.

3. A pair of really good-fitting, comfortable jeans. Thank you American Eagle. The last pair I bought from you fit both of these requirements wonderfully!

4. A clean, uncluttered room. I need to get on that...

5.That first big stretch when you get out of bed in the morning that energizes you. Amazing.

6.Being creative and my imagination.

7. Music. Any and all kinds. Well, except almost anything played on the popular hit station. Like Austin's KISS FM or College Station's Candy 95.

8. Team 17 minus Adam, plus Nathan! Well, Nathan is not in this picture. Daniel, me, and Javi at a Quelf party. Without these guys, I would have lost my mind months ago because of engineering! They rock my world!!!!

9. Sleep. Did not get enough of that this semester. I'm going to try harder next term to get more because I know I'm a better person when I've slept for 8 hours.

10. Smiles and laughter. Always the best. Being around happy people makes me happy.

Blogs that make my day brighter:
Shelby: College Life Rantings
and I'm now going to use a cop-out and tell everyone else to do it because it's fun to think about things that make you happy! Get in the holiday mood!!

So, the personal life has been a little crazy. Jacob and I ended. Daniel and I began. I'll tell you more in person if I know you. ;) And I'm really only posting this so NOBODY ELSE can accuse me for not telling them about my life!!! I've had it!

I'm kidding. It's nice to know that people are curious and concerned and care about what's going on.

CHRISTMAS IS ONLY 5 DAYS AWAY!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

What are you wishing for?

My list consists of Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume, a yoga mat and a bag for it, a Jane Austen anthology, an art book of any kind, Glee Soundtrack Vol. 2, a Chi Low EMF Hairdryer, world peace, possibly a Kindle or Sony E-Reader
... and a New Year's Eve kiss. I'm hopeless, I know!

We shall see... I'm just excited to be home and with my family, out of school. No more tests or homework or projects to worry about. No more horrible food. Although I do miss my roomies and my friends terribly. But it is so nice to sleep in my own bed and have a car. And knowing that any food I want is in the pantry!

And a very happy birthday to my mother! It was actually yesterday but better late than never!!
I guess that's it for now! Have wonderful holidays and feel the love!!!

I'm in total shock right now. Excuse me while I get a paper bag...

Hot Topic

I will be up front with you, this is kind of a strange thing to post, but it's because I'm in Comp and Rhetoric that I put it up here. Senator Savino makes a brilliant argument here, and I think people need to have an open mind about this. If you've been alive in the past 10 years, and I assume you have or you wouldn't be reading this blog, you know how polarized this issue is.

And without further ado:

What are your thoughts about this? Anything and everything.

Considering My Options

Thinking about art and drawing and design = happy feeling
Thinking about all the physics and calculus courses I'm going to be taking = sad feeling

Should I be gleaning something important from this? Like get out of engineering and go do art? Or is it just early college jitters?

And these thoughts are not just occasional. I think about this decision all the time. All. The. Time. Even when I have talked myself into staying with engineering, everything just creeps back in to my sorry little brain and stews there. It is dumb the way that happens to me.

I have got a little story. When I was trying to find a laptop for school, my dad and I went to Fry's and looked at all the stuff they had. HP, Sony, every other computer imaginable. Except Dell. Not a Dell in sight. I had been looking at them online for a while and really liked the way they looked and the performance and everything. But I could not see them up close and really decide if I liked one. So I took my only options as either an HP or a Sony or one of the others that was in the store. When we left, I had this really frustrated feeling. I just was not comfortable, if that makes sense to anyone. Like a restless feeling. We saw a Best Buy and decided to try there. They had Dell and every one of them that I looked at I could see myself with, unlike at the other store. I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted because I liked all of them!

This is the feeling I am getting here. A restless, unsure feeling. I know it is kind of crazy equating what I want to do with the rest of my life with buying a computer. But then again, it's not. Both things I care about a lot, both I only want what's the very best for me, both are a very important investment.

I am going to try and give it time. If by Thanksgiving I am not completely in love with engineering again, I will probably be considering other things.
